Macramé
Knot cord into something to hang.
Macramé is the craft of tying patterns of knots in cord. Plant hangers, wall hangings, bracelets, and key chains all use the same handful of basic knots in different combinations.
The knots are simple. Square knot, half hitch, lark's head. Once you know three or four, you can follow most patterns. Counting and consistency matter; a sloppy knot in the middle of a piece is hard to fix.
It's a low-mess, low-fuss hobby. Cord, scissors, and somewhere to hang your work in progress. Most people use a wooden dowel, a clothes rack, or a hook in a doorway.
You’ll love macramé if…
- three or four basic knots are enough to satisfy you.
- you want to make decor for a wall, plant, or table.
- you want a hobby that pairs with watching shows.
