Watercolor Painting
Easy to start, hard to master.
Watercolor needs almost no setup. A pan set, a brush, a cup of water, and paper. You can paint at the kitchen table or on the couch.
The medium is unforgiving in a specific way: you can't fully control where pigment goes once it hits wet paper. Learning to plan around that is most of what new painters work on.
It's cheap to fail. A starter set and a paper pad cost under $30. You don't need to take it seriously to enjoy it.
You’ll love watercolor painting if…
- you want a hobby with a tiny supply footprint.
- your starter setup costs less than lunch.
- you need it to be set up and put away quickly.
